A Session/Workshop on Software Defined Networks (SDN) had been organized by CSI Student Branch, BVM Engineering College on 21 st July, 2018 Saturday. The event was conducted by Dr. Ritesh Patel, professor at CSPIT, Charusat and was coordinated by Dr Mayur Vegad, Professor, BVM Engineering College. CISCO Packet Tracer, a cross- platform visual simulation tool was used to create network topologies and imitate computer networks during the session. The event took place in two sessions.

Session 1

- Timing: 11:30 am to 1:30 am

- Topics covered:

 Fundamentals of Computer Networks

 Gateway

 Setting up a Network and allocation of IP Addresses

 Subnets and their connection

 Connection between different networks and data transfer between them

 Routing Tables.

Session 2

- Timing: 1:55pm to 5:00pm

- Topics covered:

 Introduction to SDN

 Advantages and Disadvantages of SDN over old Network System

 Application of SDN using Emulator MININET and FLOOD LIGHT.

Overall it was an interactive session where along with theoretical aspects practical implementation was also carried out which helped the attendants in understanding the network architecture in dept. The session was ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mayur Vegad.
