The CSI Student Chapter of BVM Engineering College, Vallabh Vidhyanagar had organized it’s Inauguration Ceremony followed by an Expert talk on “Distributed System” on 7th July, 2018. In the Inauguration Function, His Excellency Dr. D. B. Choksi, Dean of the faculty of Science at Sardar Patel University, Dr. S. D. Dhiman, TEQUIP III Coordinator, BVM Engineering College had graced the occasion as the chief guests. Dr. I. N. Patel, President, BVM Engineering College, presided over the function. The ceremony initiated with a small welcome to all the dignitaries, faculties and students attending the event. The event was taken forward with a Prayer and Lamp Lighting conducted by the dignitaries.

The event was carried forward by greeting the dignitaries with bouquet presentation by Dr. D. G. Thakore, Head of Computer Department, BVM Engineering College, Dr N. M. Patel, CSI Student Branch Counselor and Dr. U. K. Jhaliya, BVM CSI Chapter Faculty Member.The bouquet presentation was followed by a brief Introduction from Dr. D. G. Thakore on the Initiation of the BVM CSI Chapter and the efforts and working force behind it. Following this, there was a small talk by Dr. S. D. Dhiman complementing the idea of starting the CSI Chapter. Attending the function as the guest of honor, Dr. D. B. Choksi narrated the history and the working of the CSI Chapter stating its various activites, magazines, publications, conventions and more. It was followed by a Presidential address by the Dr. I. N. Patel.A memento was presented to Dr. D. B. Choksi by Dr. I. N. Patel as an appreciation for the time and valuable input that he had shared. Finally, a vote of thanks was extended by Dr. N. M. Patel.

The event then extended towards the Expert Talk on DISTRIBUTED SYSTEM by the chief guest Dr. D. B. Choksi. The talk covered various aspects briefing about the real concept of a distributed system, various principles and paradigms behind it, it’s characteristics, strength and weaknesses, Hardware architecture etc., through a series of real life example giving a glass clear explaination to all the attendants of the event.The students showed an enthusiastic approach towards the event. The talk made students explore a part of parallel computing, helping them both academically and professionally.
