DR S D DHIMAN graduated in Civil Engineering from Sardar Patel University Vallabh Vidyanagar, with M.Tech., from IIT Kanpur and PhD from IIT Delhi. He has 39 + years of teaching experience and is presently working as Head, Civil Engineering Department, Chairman, Board of Studies and former Associate Dean Quality Assurance. He has successfully guided PhDs / M. Tech. dissertations/thesis and B. Tech. projects and published technical articles in reputed SCI journals (like ASCE, Springer, Taylor & Francis…). He is a reviewer of SCI indexed Journals and has presented papers in conferences and delivered invited talks/lectures in faculty development programs sponsored by AICTE/ ISTE/TEQIP/IE(I)/ WALMI -Anand at premier institutions like IIT Delhi, JNU, SVNIT and many Engineering colleges. He held the crucial strategic position of TEQIP-III Coordinator from 2017 to 2021 for implementing the project supported by World Bank and Ministry of Education, Govt. of India (worth rupees 7 crores) to build a network among BVM and Engineering College, Banswara (Rajasthan) as part of twining activities. This role was instrumental in managing quality that significantly contributed to BVM’s institutional development. He also worked as TEQIP-II project Joint co-coordinator, (a project worth rupees 10 crores) for improving student learning outcomes and improving employability. He led Civil Engineering Department for establishing a Centre of Excellence in Geospatial Technology. He gave his services as Officer In-charge Credit System at BVM during 2009-12. As a Session Chair in National/ International conferences, he is involved in development of laboratories in the Civil Engineering department. DPC member of Gujarat Technological University, Member of core committee for BE Civil curriculum development (2009-13) at Gujarat Technological University. Editor of BVM, Diamond Jubilee Souvenir and Member Directory 2007-08, Coordinator of college magazine "VIshvakarma" during 2005-2008. Member BoS Civil, CHARUSAT University Changa, Coordinator of Workshop on Urban Storm Water Drain Designing and Modeling under CEPT Ahmedabad (Anchor institute and BVM Nodal Centre) Oct. 2010. He carried out NNMRS project work at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing Dehradun in the area of rainfall-runoff & soil erosion modelling using Remote Sensing and GIS techniques for Tons watershed. Dr Dhiman is a Fellow of Institute of Engineers (India) and life member of various professional bodies like Indian Water Resources Society, National Society of Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Machines, Assoc. of Indian Hydrologists, ISTE and Assoc. of Agrometereologists. He was awarded first prize for best paper presentation in Gujarat Science Congress 2005, Best BVM faculty award 2009-10, Certificate of Appreciation as TEQIP-III Project Coordinator by NPIU New Delhi, Certificate of Recognition by Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre (GCPC) for guiding research in 2019.
